Historic St. Philips
Old Salem Museums & Gardens is pleased to offer Historic St. Philips Church for your wedding ceremony. St. Philips Church is a very special part of the history of Salem. St. Philips’ remarkable history began in 1822 and continued until 1952 when the Congregation held the last service in the brick church. The congregation moved to Happy Hill and later to its current day location on Bon Air Avenue in northern Winston Salem. The St. Philips brick church sat empty for nearly 40 years until, in 1989, Old Salem Museums & Gardens decided to restore the church as a way to exhibit the African American story in Salem. The same year, Old Salem nominated the building for the National Register of Historic Places. St. Philips remains a consecrated space.
The capacity of St. Philips is 200 and is available in 4 hour rental increments on Saturday afternoons only. |
