Early American Sampler

Description

The history of the sampler in the United States dates back to the earliest days of the colonies.  Prior to that, samplers appeared in the England of Chaucer nearly 300 years before the first English settlers came to America.  Embroidered samplers depicting alphabets, numbers, verses, pictorial scenes, and flowers evolved in America and England between 1750 and 1840.  Old Salem Museums & Gardens and the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) are home to an exceptional collection of Southern needlework that spans seven states.

This Early American Sampler is a classic, counted cross-stitch sampler.  The kit includes a 9″x12″ piece of 11-count Aida cloth, floss, needle, graph, instructions, and history.  For children 10 and up and adults.
