Collection: Arms and Weapons

Old Salem is home to a significant collection of longrifles, swords, and related objects made and used in Wachovia. Longrifles were some of the most complicated objects crafted in early America. Artistic masterworks, they required craftsmen skilled in woodworking, silversmithing, ironworking, and the mechanical arts. The rich tradition of Moravian rifle making is kept alive today by the talented gunsmiths of the Timothy Vogler Gun Shop in Old Salem.
